The Question of Hell?

Everyone with the exception of Jesus Christ, who has lived and died is now in Hell. Yes, all dead Christians, Jews, Muslims, and everyone else are there. The problem is that most people do not understand Hell. In both the Hebrew and the Greek, hell is the grave and is not to be confused with the Lake of Fire. No one is burning in hell  at this moment and no one will be conscious of being in the Lake of Fire (at a future date) except the False Prophet, the Beast and the devil. If this were not so, the whole Bible would fall apart. Jesus Christ is the only person who has ever lived and died and is alive anywhere today. Everyone else is dead and in the grave.

For believers in Jesus Christ, the next thing the dead will “know” is the Rapture. For the dead of the faithful of Israel the next thing they will be aware of is the Awakening of the Just, 7 years after the Rapture. For anyone religion to teach anything contrary to this is false and very dangerous. Think about the torture it would be for our dead loved ones to be living somewhere else without us? They would be hoping and praying for us to die so we could join them. And, here on earth we might be wishing the same thing. Christians teach the same thing as Muslims do in this regard, but thank God they don’t go around killing themselves and others to get there!

If you want scriptures to back this up, read my book at http://www.fredswolfe.com/works/rightly-dividing-the-word-of-truth-a-fresh-perspective-to-understanding-the-bible/ or study it for yourselves. As usual, all comments are invited. God bless,

P.S. As a friend of mine recently said, “there is a Hell in Michigan and it does freeze over!” 🙂

I was separated from the Navy three months early to attend College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California. Near the end of my first term as Student Body President, I received Jesus Christ and became born again in 1974. I have been studying the Bible, The Word of God and teaching others ever since. I have been married for thirty five years to my wife Joanne, from Whitestone, New York. We are the proud parents of two grown sons and two granddaughters and two grandsons. Thank you Fred for a brilliant thought provoking post.

I believe you are right, Revelation 20:10 records that “the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” but you have to remember that 20:15 also record “And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

19:20 says they are “those who worshiped its image” and 21:8 records ” the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Thus, Fred, it is not only the devil, the beast and false prophet, but all whose name are not in the book of the Lamb. The book of life.

Yes, you are correct. The context I meant to convey was that of being tormented in the Lake of Fire. This unholy trinity will be while the others will be burnt to ash, immediately.

Everybody shall have to face death. In the old times the corpses where destroyed by fire for safety reasons, and that is why so often is spoken of “fire” or a “lake of fire”.

Dead cannot feel anything and shall return to dust. Once a person dies he has paid for his or her sins, so he or she would not undergo a new penalty and spend some time in purgatory or be tortured in hell. the soul is the breath or the being of the person itself and not an other spiritual part of the human being.

Every dead person shall stay in hell = the grave until the return of Jesus Christ when he shall call the living and the dead to judge them and either to give them a second death or the entrance to the Kingdom of God.

Mostly correct; good job. Just because a person dies does not mean that they have paid for their sins. Actually, Jesus Christ paid the ransom for us. When we accept this, our sins are remitted as far as the East is from the West; until then, people are still dead in their sins. We are judged right now on whether we are worthy of Salvation through Jesus Christ. When we make him Lord of our lives, we are instantly judged worthy. Our chances of receiving Salvation after death are greatly reduced, if possible at all, especially if we rejected him when we were alive.

I agree that we need to accept Christ Jesus as the Messiah to get our remittance, which shall also only happen when we do regret of our faults. For as such Jesus shall be judging on Judgement day. when we repent already before we die we shall like you say instantly judged worthy, but that shall not bring us straight ahead in the Kingdom. We shall have to wait in the grave with all the other dead people, like in a deep sleep.
