Part III of Identifying the False Prophet; the Predecessor of the Antichrist

The only other place in the “real” New Testament that something of this magnitude is spoken about is in 2 Thess 2:1-10:

Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to him, we ask you

2 not to be quickly shaken in your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Christ had come.

3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction,

4 he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.

5 Don’t you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?

6 Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that it may be revealed in its own season.

7 For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until it is taken out of the way.

8 Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;

9 even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

  1. Foremost in this passage is the mistranslation of the word kurios in verse 2. Kurios means lord, not Christ. The day of the Lord and the day of Christ are completely different.
  2. Verse 1 tells us the main subject, the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to him. This is a 2-fold purpose.
  3. The “departure” in verse 3 is our “gathering together” unto him in verse 1.
  4. The person of sin, who is represent “destruction” will not be unveiled until after the gathering together, commonly known as the Rapture.
  5. This person of destruction will come demonstrating counterfeit signs, miracles and wonders.

It is my deduction that the individual Paul is talking about here is the False Prophet that John spoke of in Revelation, because of the lying signs, miracles, and wonders they perform.

What do you think?

Your starting statement is in error friend. It needs to be corrected. 2 Thes 2:2 does NOT use the word Kurios …” as though the day of [(the) Lord] had come : Granted, the NU text translates it as such. But we have the Greek and It has been translated correctly FROM THE GREEK as …” the day of Christ” ; 5547 Christos; NOT 2962 Kurios: …
See also Phil 1:6, 10; 2:16 The day of Christos…

And friend 2 Thes 2:3 regarding the falling away is not the rapture… Doctrines of men and demons define it as such but not the Word of God:: to understander the apostasia ( apostasy) of the church which spearheads the coming of the antichrist because it falls into apostasy and no longer is a restraining factor… Understand the use of the greek word translated as “falling away” in light of other Scripture:
    1 Tim 4:1
    Luke 8:13
Acts 5:37 all use the exact same greek word 646; apostasia
If the Holy Spirit meant the rapture He would have said until the harpazo; 726; or used 3380 paralambano used in Matt 24: 40, 41 or Airo;142… Which connotates the exact meaning many are twisting apostasia to mean.

Finally in this short correction which you need Sir- for all Scripture is profitable for it…

    Consider this thought:
God’s Word calls it the apostasy
Satan’s ministers of light call it the rapture…
In the Garden God said – You shall surely die…
Satan said you shall not surely die…

So much more will the Spirit open your eyes to see friend but your Laodician tendencies need eye salve first…

    His friend, Jeff

Thank you Jeff for your candid comment and opinion. I appreciate it.
      God bless,

Who is “we” Jeff? There are much better manuscripts for the Greek since the putting together of the TR, but you seem to know better than the NU which you are supposed to prescribe to.

How can you call me “friend” and Satan’s minister with the same mouth?

Apostasy is not the translation of apostasia, brother, but merely a transliteration and the KJV is not the “end all” version that only represents the Word of God. There are more errors in it than most others.

    • fredswolfe says :

BTW, what shape do you see this Apostasy taking; what will it look like?

    • fredswolfe says :

The best Greek manuscripts have “day of the Lord”. What is the “NU text”??

Do you read the critical Greek editions to get your data?
